Al-Baqi
The Everlasting, whose existence has no end and who remains after all else perishes.
About
Al-Baqi comes from the root b-q-y, meaning to remain, to continue, and to endure. Allah being al-Baqi means His existence has no end; it depends on nothing else and will never cease.
The name is closely related to al-Awwal and al-Akhir, the First and the Last. Everything we see in the universe has a beginning and an end: seasons change, people come and go, works wear out. Al-Baqi points to what stays unchanged in the midst of all this change. The Qur'an also gives the good news that the good people do will endure with Allah.
Surah An-Nahl, verse 96, says: "Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting." Surah Ar-Rahman, verse 27, likewise declares that everything on earth will perish, and only the Face of your Lord will remain.

Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.
Reflection
It can hurt to think that something you've poured yourself into will one day wear out or disappear. Al-Baqi reminds you that true permanence lies with Him and in what is with Him. That awareness keeps you from clinging too tightly to what is passing, while assuring you that the good you do is never wasted. Today, you might make time for one small kindness that will leave a lasting mark.
