Al-Ghaniyy
The Self-Sufficient, free of all need and limitless in wealth.
About
Al-Ghaniyy comes from the root gh-n-y, which conveys wealth, sufficiency, and freedom from need. Allah being al-Ghaniyy means He needs nothing at all, in His being, His attributes, or His actions.
Human wealth is relative and temporary; even someone who has a great deal still needs countless other things. Allah's self-sufficiency is absolute: He needs neither the worship nor the praise of His servants, and the benefit of worship and good deeds returns to the people who do them. In the Qur'an, al-Ghaniyy frequently appears with al-Hamid, the Praiseworthy: He depends on no one, and because His richness is joined with generosity, He is worthy of all praise.
Surah Fatir, verse 15, reminds people that they are in need of Allah while He is Free of need and Praiseworthy. The verse presents human need not as something shameful, but as a reason to turn to the right door.

O mankind, you are those in need of Allah, while Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
Reflection
Sometimes the feeling that you don't have enough leaves you restless. Al-Ghaniyy reminds you that true richness belongs to Him, and that your own neediness points you to the right door. Admitting you're in need doesn't make you smaller; it frees you to expect less from people and trust Allah more. Today, try counting what you have instead of what you lack.
