About
Al-Aziz comes from the root a-z-z, which means to be strong, to prevail and to be undefeated, and also to be rare and precious. The word izza, meaning honor, dignity and might, shares this root.
Al-Aziz is the One whom no power can resist, who has no equal and who needs no one. The name speaks both of His unconquerable strength and of His uniqueness and worth. True honor comes from Him, and human dignity is found in nearness to Him and in integrity.
Al-Aziz appears very often in the Qur'an, usually paired with Al-Hakim (the Wise) or Ar-Rahim (the Merciful). The pairing is meaningful: His might is always joined with wisdom and mercy. In Surah Ash-Shu'ara the line "indeed, your Lord is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful" returns again and again, and Al-Munafiqun 63:8 declares that honor belongs to Allah, His Messenger and the believers.

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Say, "O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent. …
Reflection
Dignity is not won by making others small, but by standing firm where you know you are right. Al-Aziz reminds you that real worth is not found in titles or applause, but in nearness to Him. When someone's words make you feel worthless, remember that their words are not the source of your value. As you guard your own dignity, remember to guard other people's too.
