About
Al-Ahad shares the root w-h-d with Al-Wahid. Scholars have drawn a subtle distinction between the two: Al-Wahid stresses that God has no partner, while Al-Ahad stresses an absolute oneness that admits no division within and no comparison with anything else.
This Name sets a boundary against the mind's tendency to picture God in the image of created things. He fits no mold; He neither begets nor is born, and nothing is equal to Him.
As a Name of God, Al-Ahad appears in the first verse of Surah Al-Ikhlas. Though very short, this surah expresses the essence of God's oneness in the simplest possible terms.

Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
Reflection
