Al-Muhyi
The Giver of Life; the One who revives the dead and brings dead earth back to life.
About
Al-Muhyi comes from the root h-y-y, meaning to live, to be alive and to come to life. The words hayah (life), ihya' (revival) and Hayy (the Ever-Living) share this root.
Al-Muhyi is the One who gives life to living beings, revives the dead and brings parched earth back to life with rain. This giving of life is not limited to the body; the Quran also describes guidance and faith as a kind of coming to life. Together with Al-Mumit, the name shows that life and death belong to Him alone.
In the Quran the name appears in Surahs Ar-Rum and Fussilat as "muhyi al-mawta," the Giver of life to the dead. In Surah Ar-Rum, we are invited to look at the earth revived by rain and reminded that the One who brings the land back to life will also raise the dead. In this way, every spring becomes a visible sign of the resurrection.

So observe the effects of the mercy of Allah - how He gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that [same one] will give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.
