Al-Mu'min
The Giver of Security, who grants safety and confirms His promise.
About
Al-Mu'min comes from the root a-m-n, which carries the sense of safety, trust, freedom from fear, and belief. Amana (trust), amin (trustworthy) and iman (faith) all share this root. Used for people, the word means "believer"; used for Allah, it means the One who grants security and the One who confirms.
The name has two main layers. First, He makes His servants safe from fear and gives them security and calm. Second, He confirms His messengers with clear signs and is true to His word. Allah does not break His promise, so whoever relies on Him knows the ground beneath them is firm.
Al-Mu'min appears as a divine name in Al-Hashr 59:23. The related idea of amn, security, runs through many verses; Al-An'am 6:82 teaches that true security belongs to those who do not mix their faith with wrongdoing.
From the Qur'an
He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Grantor of Security, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.
Reflection
Being trustworthy is one of the most precious qualities a person can carry. Al-Mu'min points you to the true source of security, and reminds you that you can be a safe harbor for others too. Even the small promises you keep build someone's trust in you. Today, try closing the gap between what you say and what you do.
