Al-Qawiyy
The All-Strong; the One whose power is complete and never fails.
About
Al-Qawiyy comes from the root q-w-y, meaning to be strong, to be capable of a task and to endure. The words quwwah (strength) and taqwiyah (reinforcement) come from the same root.
Al-Qawiyy is the One whose power is perfect, whom no task can strain and whose strength never diminishes. His power is never arbitrary; it works together with kindness, justice and wisdom. The name is a refuge for those who feel powerless and a measure, even a warning, for those who hold power.
In the Quran the name is most often paired with "Aziz" (the Exalted in Might). In Surah Ash-Shura, after reminding us that Allah is Subtle with His servants and provides for whom He wills, the verse closes with these two names. The same pairing appears in Surahs Al-Hajj, Al-Hadid and Al-Mujadilah.

Reflection
In hard times you feel the limits of your own strength very clearly. Remembering Al-Qawiyy means knowing that you are not the true source of strength, and finding relief in that. It also reminds you that whatever strength you have been given is a trust, meant to protect the weak rather than overpower them. Sometimes being strong simply means standing patiently in the quietest moment.
