Al-Aliyy comes from the root '-l-w, meaning to be high and exalted. This highness is not about physical location, but about worth, power and rank. His exaltedness cannot be compared to anything.
Al-Aliyy usually appears in the Qur'an together with Al-Azim or Al-Kabir; Ayat al-Kursi ends with "He is the Most High, the Most Great" (Al-Baqarah 2:255). In Surah Al-Hajj, after stating that Allah is the Truth and that whatever is called upon besides Him is falsehood, the verse affirms that He is the Most High, the Grand.
This name invites a person to lift their gaze toward higher values. Petty calculations and grudges lose their weight beside this exaltedness.

That is because Allah is the True Reality, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand.
