About
Al-Halim comes from the root h-l-m, meaning to be gentle, to not be carried away by anger, and to meet things with patience. The root also carries the sense of maturity and sound judgment; hilm is the bearing of a mature person who has power, yet does not act in haste.
In the Qur'an, Al-Halim is usually paired with Al-Ghafur, Al-Ghani or Al-Alim. Surah Al-Baqarah teaches that a kind word and forgiveness are better than charity followed by hurt, and the verse ends by reminding us that Allah is Forbearing. The same quality is attributed to Prophet Abraham (At-Tawbah 9:114).
This name teaches trust in His patience and gentleness toward others.

Reflection
