Ar-Razzaq comes from the root r-z-q. Rizq refers to everything a living being benefits from: not only food and drink, but also knowledge, a sound mind, peace of heart and good relationships. The intensive fa''al pattern stresses how continuous and generous this provision is.
The name reminds us that the true source of provision is Allah. People work, make an effort and take the means available to them, but it is He who brings about the result and gives blessing to it. This awareness protects a person from both idleness and the restless greed that worry about provision can breed.
Ar-Razzaq appears in Adh-Dhariyat 51:58. Hud 11:6 declares that the provision of every creature on earth rests with Allah, and several verses call Him khayr ar-raziqin, the best of providers.

Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.
