Ar-Ra'uf
The Most Kind, whose tenderness toward His servants is boundless.
About
Ar-Ra'uf comes from the root r-ʾ-f, the source of the word ra'fah. Ra'fah is described as the most delicate and intense form of mercy, a tenderness aimed especially at relieving hardship and shielding someone from harm.
In the Qur'an, Ar-Ra'uf most often appears alongside Ar-Rahim, as ra'ufun rahim, "Kind and Merciful." Scholars have noted that mercy (rahmah) is a broad goodness and grace, while ra'fah is its gentle, protective edge. That Allah does not burden His servants beyond what they can bear is often seen as one expression of this kindness.
Surah Al-Hadid describes Allah sending down clear verses to bring people out of darkness into light, and ties this directly to His being Kind and Merciful toward them. Guidance itself is presented as one of the greatest signs of His tenderness.

It is He who sends down upon His Servant [Muhammad (ﷺ)] verses of clear evidence that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And indeed, Allah is to you Kind and Merciful.
Reflection
Kindness often lives less in grand sacrifices than in small, thoughtful gestures. Ar-Ra'uf reminds you that you are surrounded by a tenderness that shields you from burdens you couldn't carry and lights the way ahead. Once you notice that, it becomes easier to be gentle with yourself and with others. Try to see the quiet weight someone near you is carrying today; sometimes a single kind word is enough to change their day.
