Al-Akhir
The Last, whose existence has no end and who remains after all things pass.
About
Al-Akhir comes from the root '-kh-r, "the last, what comes after," the same root as Al-Mu'akhkhir. God's existence has no end; when everything else has passed away, He remains.
This Name reminds us that everything in the world is temporary and only He endures. Surah Ar-Rahman states that everyone on the earth will perish, and only the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor, will remain. This truth calls a person not to despair, but to turn toward what lasts.
Al-Akhir appears in the third verse of Surah Al-Hadid alongside Al-Awwal. A Being without beginning or end offers lasting support to people who live within time.

He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.
Everyone upon it [i.e., the earth] will perish, And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
Reflection
Seeing something end can sadden you: a season of life, a companionship, an opportunity. Al-Akhir reminds you that behind every ending there is One who never ends. This does not deny the pain of loss; it gives that pain meaning and consolation. Try to direct your effort and your love toward things that leave a lasting trace.
